U.S. stock futures slid early on Tuesday as Greek bond investors wrangled with European finance ministers about a deal to renegotiate rates on Greek debt. European indexes were broadly lower, and U.S. stocks followed them down. U.S. investors are also awaiting the results of a two-day Fed meeting that starts today.
Dow futures fell 57 points to 12,593; S&P 500 futures fell 8 points to 1,303.1. Numerous blue chip companies reported earnings. McDonald’s (MCD) shares rose slightly after the company beat earnings expectations. Johnson & Johnson (JNJ) also beat estimates, but shares fell 0.8% in pre-market trading. Travelers (TRV) rose 0.4% after releasing its earnings report. Household goods maker Kimberly-Clark (KMB) fell 3% after missing earnings expectations.
