Universal Detection Technology's Partner in Border and Zone Security Systems Reports Field Test Results for Its Sensor System
Test Demonstrates Sensor Remotely Identifies Intruders by Detecting the Unique Seismic Signature Produced on Foot or by Vehicles Without Need for Sight Visibility LOS ANGELES, CA, Dec 09, 2009 (MARKETWIRE via COMTEX) -- Universal Detection Technology (Universal Detection Technology OTCBB: UNDT Anthrax Detection) (OTCBB: UNDT), a developer of early-warning monitoring technologies to protect people from bioterrorism and other infectious health threats and provider of counter-terrorism consulting and training services, announced today that its partner in the development of border and zone security sensors, Precision Sensors Instrumentation (PSI), has reported field test results for its position sensor system. The field test results, conducted at an air force base, provided irrefutable and comparative data showing the discriminating advantage of the technology. The sensor was able to discern between human and vehicle traffic well in advance of the perimeter of the airbase, positioning it as an optimal sensor to use for border protection. PSI has adapted one of the most sensitive seismic sensors available to the security industry into an ultra-sensitive position sensor. The sensor remotely identifies intruders in a security zone by detecting the unique seismic signature they produce either on foot or by vehicles. The sensor is also designed to be totally passive and undetectable and can function without the need of line-of-sight visibility. The sensor is optimized for border protection or the physical security of a perimeter, such as an army base or a port. The U.S. border and perimeter protection market is expected to be one of the fastest growing market segments in homeland security. According to Homeland Security Research Corp's (HSRC) landmark research, 2007-2011 U.S. Homeland Security (Government & Private Sectors) Market Outlook, this market is expected to accumulate to $13.9B between 2007 and 2011. The market demand is composed of both government and private sectors, with the majority of the growth coming from the federal government. "The field test results show that the PSI technology is one of the most sensitive position sensors in the market," said Jacques Tizabi, UNDT's CEO. "As this latest seismic detection technology can be integrated into countless security perimeter systems, we anticipate great interest for this product both from the homeland security market and private security firms," he added.
