I agree with you that one must take the necessary steps to improve one's debt situation. Prevention is always better than cure. Put down those credit cards that are not required for a while. When you have recovered from all the other debts, you can add these cards back into your wallet.

I agree. I took the credit card from my wallet in the meantime that I owed a lot so as to avoid being tempted whenever I go to the mall. My friends told me in order not to be tempted in using the card is to break it. But no, because I might still need it in case of emergency. I just have to pay it monthly till all my debts are paid off just as long as I won't add up another debt before it's paid off.

It's important to keep your debt/borrowing/spending in control, but I think is such a social/cultural problem that it's going to continue to affect the individual. I think what we need to do as a country is place more emphasis on financial education of people at a young age - maybe more college classes dedicated to personal finance. This would help the cause, not just the results.

there are so many options available for your outstanding debt.
