Default Invest in Real Estate or Stocks???

I have some amount of earnings apart from the ones that I save for my necessities. I want the earnings invested in some real estate or may be in stocks. I do have some knowledge on stocks but, earlier my cousin had invested in the stocks and had a set-back. I know that you need to be updated in that but – What is a better option from the two???

I would say real estate is easier than stocks, but in today's market, you can make more money in stocks. It really just depends how much time you are willing to dedicate to this investment.

I prefer safer investments, and stocks are not safe in my book. My husband has gotten rid of some stock not so long ago because he was losing money. You can lose with real estate as well, but I still think it is far more reliable.

Default Invest in Real Estate or Stocks???

Real Estate or Stocks ---- I would prefer real estate just for the sake that I don’t know much about the stocks ….. but as the case with your cousin goes …. I would advice you to have some investments in the real estate market as the place is at a boom now and you may get good returns for the investments there. Being updated on the stock market is a must for investments there but I find investment a risk in the stock market.

Real estate is good if, and only if, you plan to live in the first property you purchase. Building equity in your first home will give you funds to use for the purchase of your second property.

While that is true, that can take a REALLY long time to do, especially with today's market.

If you are serious about investing in houses I would speak to a local realtor. Find one that has a good reputation and who is honest. They can give you an idea of your market, and whether there are indicators that the bottom is near. You can also speak to a local appraiser, again one that has a good reputation, to give you a feel of the local market. You may have to pay them a little but thier information may save you alot in the long run. You can also find some good information on your local board of realtors website, you have to temper that because they are trying to sell houses. Hope this information helps.

If you want a passive investment I am looking for partners in my real estate deals. I buy and am looking to hold properties, If you prefer to make a guaranteed return I pay 12%. Jturnerhb@msn.com.

As per the current situation, investing in real estate would be a much better option than compared to the investing in stocks. Real estate is a much safer investment than stocks.

Why don't you try learning to trade forex since you can make money both ways. Yes it's still risky but if your aim is only 5% per month then it's very doable!

I think you are right, forex trading don't have a bearish market. But not everyone can try the forex market. One needs to be an expert to calculate the currency fluctuations and trade sensibly.
