AIG to get up to extra $30 billion in Fed assistance

American International Group Inc. will receive additional federal assistance of up to $30 billion as part of a revamped government bailout, The Wall Street Journal's online edition reported Sunday, citing unnamed sources. Under the plan, AIG will repay a big chunk of the $40 billion it owes the Federal Reserve with equity stakes in two AIG units overseas.
