Bank of America to declare Bankruptcy?

How would a common stock holder be affected if Bank of America were to declare bankruptcy for its mortgage unit. Would it be the same as complete bankruptcy where the common stock holders are the last to see any of the remaining liquidated assets? Or would it just mean a smaller BofA?
