Yeah it is a very great idea.Actually a lot of millionaires are there who want to go to space. So the need is to publicize and identify customers. But safety should be given priority and the training should be made less rigorous . If reports of crashes comes than it would be a very big problem for the industry.

Yes, I think the leading country in astronomical development also has plans uch as this tourism plan. But this industry is too young to be talking about competition, cause we didn't see a working spaceline yet, so instead of racing to dominate in this new field, I think all country should team up first so that they can get the first spaceliners into the space!!

I checked on wiki and noticed only Russia is providing this space tourist service and the price for launching towards ISS (International Space Station) on a Soyuz spacecraft is $30 million and all flights are booked until 2009. I heard there are plans like building space hotels in the orbit, well let's just hope we don't hear something like space wars happen.

OMG, $30 million, thats extremely expensive, I think I'll never be able to get to the outer space.. haha its beyond my reach.. But I really hope that what you say is true, like building space hotel, accomodation etc. Cause all this will offer more working opportunity, that way, maybe people with no $30 million still can go to outer space as a worker, not a tourist

It won't be easy I believe, but take notice that this new indutry would hasten the development of space technologies as with more demand and such, it somehow reminds me when computers are so expensive many years ago and now we see new gadgets, processors and so on with prices that pretty much affordable.

Probably now those in the industry are still in the pioneering phase.. wait few more years or decades at least when everybody can afford to go there just like they go to disneyland...

Why not investing in this industry if you have the money....

I would say once someone like Richard Branson does actually start investing seriously in this area, then it's something to consider, but I think until it does start recieving big investment from millionaires then it's probably not gonna be worth doing if you want the investment to produce something in your lifetime. Now if you've got money to spare and want to invest it for a future generation like your kids or grandkids to benefit from, then I'd say it's the perfect area to look at. Like Orangebelt says above, in a few decades time it will be the disneyland of the future.

something we would not imagine 10 years ago .. but it is real .. people in past never believed people can go to space .. not even space .. they dont even believe in telephone created by Graham Bell .. we need someone like this .. someone who can "see" the future and make the dreams real ..

Wow this is new and interesting, but I would never invest on this.. but I might book a flight.

It really is a small world.. that people are now "socializing" and doing business outerspace..

The only problem with space is that its dubbed the last frontier for a reason. The wast amount of it is tremendous and cannot be compared to anything humans have ever ventured into before.

I would guess that in 30 years from now we can start looking at some sort of tourism in space, before that I am afraid that our technology and political will for expanding into something we cant get a return in profit of for the next 10 years is not going to change.

Unless NASA/ESA discovers huge amount of valuable material on the moon, or we get a joint venture from todays billionaires and companies we wont see neither space tourism or space mining in the next 10 years.

But it would be a good idea to start collecting money in a fund for aiding companies, or using the money to give out as a carrot to the front runners in the space development sector.
