Default Invest in South Africa

South Africa is ranked as the 18th most attractive foreign direct investment destination worldwide in the latest Foreign Direct Investment Confidence Index by global management consulting firm AT Kearney.

South Africa is the pride of the continent and a front runner for the economic development in Africa. While other countries still struggle with war and political problems SA is thriving and running a stable economy.

The Johannesburg Index is a great place to start out for investors to see what the top companies are doing and how to make some money out of SA. South Africa has enormous potential as an investment destination, offering a unique combination of highly developed first world economic infrastructure with a vibrant emerging market economy.

Commodities is a big hit as the diamond industry is having a great foothold in SA. But most money is likely to get from the cheap labor found in Johannesburg and elsewhere in SA.

SA was colonized by England and for years they were struggling with the Apartheid issue...

I wonder if the future investment make a big hit, can the natives really benefit from it??

That's wat always happen when somebody else rules your economy...

I think SA also have huge potential in tourism industry with the unique features they have... u remember the baobab tree??? the largest one is there.. also the oldest meteor scar...

Wish i have time and money to visit SA one day.. esp the National Park and mountains...

With the stable economy, there's nothing much to be worried abt nowadays if we go there... its GDP is 4 times more than other african countries and 25% GDP of the continent comes from SA.. Even Standard & Poors has raised their currency credit rating in 1995..

Its a good indication of its economic stability..

One is that South Africa is the biggest economy in Africa. The market is big. Secondly, SA has got good infrastructure, in African terms at least. It has good airports, good seaports, good highways, and convenient transportation, communication. Thirdly, SA is ruled by law. It has quite well developed legal system to protect business interests. Fourthly, SA is politically stable. It's a democratic society. Fifthly, although SA needs to improve its safety situation, it's not a target of international terrorism, it's not a spot of armed bloody conflicts, and doesn't have big religious problems like in some other countries, so generally speaking it is a peaceful, tranquil, politically stable society. Another reason is that SA is a rich in mineral resources and also human resources. In a word, South Africa is a good place to invest.

just my 2 cent. correct me if im wrong.

I'm not so sure but seeing that World Cup 2010 is going to be held there and as what most have said here being the most stable and developed in Africa, I would say it's good to invest there while there's many room to grow and opportunities available.

I agree with you, once a country is being chosen to be a host of an international game, their status skyrockets and they become famous for investment in just a while.. This scenario is similar to China, which experience a high increase in their economy and tourism industry just by hosting the Olympic...

You are saying only about the tourism potential but it does have numerous opertunities and among them diamond trading is one of the most important, after all it has large diamond mines all over it.Other core industries are also a big hit.

Apart from South Africa being a marvelous country in terms of standard of living and climate, today's overseas property investors will find many political and economic advantages through investing in the country. Commercial property has achieved substantial growth in past years and this trend looks set to continue with the government incentives now in place.South Africa is a country of sunshine and beautiful beaches, among many other attractions, and the government is committed to building a strong tourist industry.South Africa's political past has left a shortage of property and this factor has created long-term growth potential in the property market.Foreigners are actively encouraged to invest in South African property and there are no restrictions on ownership.A relatively stable democracy, South Africa is keen to encourage all types of investment.
