I think that gold is still a good investment. It does seem to be increasingly profitable. Copper is the other one that seems to be quite profitable right now. It's no wonder that it's being stolen by those who desperately need money.

Most of the books I have read that address harsh economic times, suggest moving to gold and silver when markets become too volatile. In fact, I moved a bunch of my 401K into precious metals as a hedge against the weak dollar.

I'd never heard that DianaR. Do they give a reasoning for this or just say that it's what you should do?

Precious metals are a lot like land. They are a required element in manufacturing just as land is a required element in housing and commercial development.
