Default Diamons threatened?

Recent advancements in nanomolecular engineering could render diamonds obsolete! When everyone will be able to make diamonds cheap, your stocks will be worthless. What do you think about this scenario?

I think the scenario sounds pretty unrealistic for the most part. Is there any websites that are tracking how close we actually are to being able to do something like this? Sounds like it could be a long way off.

This is already a subject that is being discussed and natural diamonds are worth 10x the fake ones, because they are flawed and not perfect as the fabric produced diamonds. But you are right, at some point they will be able to artificially recreate a perfect flawed diamond, thats when prices are going to drop.

Natural diamonds will never be obsolete, and I bet that any non-produced "diamonds" will have to be called something other than "diamond".

The diamond industry has spent too much time convincing people that real diamonds are so rare that they aren't about to let non-produced diamonds use the name.

Hate to tell you but we can already make them in the lab that are so good that they can't be identified from natural ones. We have been able to do this for about a decade now.

This is interesting as I never knew that it was possible. I do wonder how this will effect the stock market though.
