Default Investing in the computer gaming industry

One of the fastest growing industries in 2007 was the gaming industry. Most notable was the game Halo 3 that sold more units the first night of release than any other movie or game ever in recorded history.

Investing in the gaming industry might seem as a closed club as it would require most people to go to the trade shows to get an insight in what the gaming industry is all about, but companies such as Innovation Capital Investment Bankers. Gaming, leisure and hospitality industry. Investment banking. is an active investor in the gaming sector. Most likely spreading the risk of the investment portfolio to cover the entire gaming industry from hospitality to gambling would be a clever and low risk investment.

The gaming industry had a real catch in the mid 2000s when new MMORPGs got popular as many people started playing them. Especially, the game "Runescape" that was targetted to younger audience, became very profitable!. Another game, "Conquer Online" is also very popular. I heard that the admin of CO manages to earn a net profit of $100k even after paying to the programmers and Game Moderators. In today`s world, WoW(World of Warcraft) is getting too popular that many people have started selling in-game items and stuff for $1000s!. Imagine what would be the average profit of the Warcraft developer...

If you cannot start a company to develop games, you can also start a company that specalize in game commerce, like selling ingame items, ingame money, etc. This supporting industry is also profitable

I'm not sure but for certain places piracy can be a major concern for those who wish to invest in this business locally. Not all have full support for certain game consoles where some like in Malaysia there's no service center for Microsoft Xbox 360 as well Playstation 3 despite it has been out for quite some time.

Nuamen, why do you have to worry about the lack of service center when you are not the maker of the game console? That is sometimes that mircosoft or other console makers have to worry, not the software developer of the games.

What I should mean is investing a business that involve in selling gaming products and such.

Btw in South Korea online gaming such as starcraft and such can mean serious business. They have competitions that are pretty popular and those good players can earn nice amounts of cash.

The professional players there are paid to play starcraft everyday and compete with each other on much publicized contests.

Yeah I heard about that too, there are certain company pays for gamers to play and win. Have you heard of championship gaming series? The team which enters the tournament are pretty well organised, with coach and some specialist, gaming industry is not one to be taken lightly... Also the most popular job for gamers is game tester, as being one of them gets you to play games even when it is unpublished yet!! I heard that IGN were hiring some.... Also this job is a bit tiring, I heard that gamers were given about a week to finish up the whole game!!
