Dubai property investment

Hi everyone,

Just registered here, how is everyone?

Came across this piece of news in a website and it just struck me - out of curiosity and a pinch of financial interest! - as to how can the Middle East be seemingly thriving in this recession while the perspective for the North is so gloomy.

Basically, Ras Al Khaimah is predicted to grow 10% for 2009. I mean, okay... it is a prediction but they aren't just said out loud, right? People do the maths, people take into account how the year's been so far, etc... I wonder if there is a true great potential for investment there...

What would be everybody's thoughts? Where is the money coming from? True, most investors are probably not even natives, but this is exactly why I ask myself... are we more prone to invest out there rather than home?
