Does anyone else listen to, read, or otherwise follow the teachings of Dave Ramsey concerning financial wealth? His Total money makeover plan saved my family, and now we're working towards being completely debt free.

The most amazing part is, most of his advice is "common sense," but the sort of 'common" that no one, not even my parents, ever bothered to teach me. I'll be sure to teach my kids better!

Why is it we spend so much time teaching our children the stuff that is taught in school and yet nothing about the real world.

Personally I've found the Nanny State to be a sex offended. They start screwing you from day one.

Agent Fred! Yes, I really like the Dave Ramsey system. It is so nice to have a non get rich quick plan . . . just a hard work practical one! Good luck!

Check you The Total Money Makeover (a book)... it is definitely worth reading. He also has a website at Real Debt Help - Get out of debt with Dave Ramsey's Total Money Makeover Plan.. Be warned though, he is famous for tough love! (-:

When you're ready to begin his plan, Total Money makeover is indeed the book you want. I would recommend listening to his radio show first, though (streams live for free, or the first hour of each day can be listened to free at Real Debt Help - Get out of debt with Dave Ramsey's Total Money Makeover Plan.), to get an idea of his financial philosophy.

Real debt help is not quick or easy. Quick, pain-free fixes like debt consolidation, debt management, and bankruptcy actually cause you more harm than good. These services almost never solve the true problem - your behavior. The only way to get out of debt and stay debt free begins with you.
