Investing in Derivatives versus Spread Betting

Hi all

I am looking to invest in commodities and was confused to the difference in investing in e.g. GOLD forwards versus investing via spread betting.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Also where can I invest in derivative products online - there are plenty of spreadbetting companies out there?
