Default Share your experience with Treasury security

Anyone want to share their experience with Treasury security? By stating Treasury security, i mean any of the four things that are typically offered by the treasury of any conutry, namely:

1. Treasury bill
2. Treasury note
3. Treasury bond
4. TIPS

In my case, I am a student who does not have much income and do not have much captial to invest in more profitable venture as most of my saving goes to pay for my college fees

So for my case, i went for treasury bill as they mature in one year or less. It means that I could put in part of my saving into it and get my divdend quickly. I have to pay for college fees with my saving, so I do to keep my saving as acessible as possible.

Also, my government allows me to put in as little as sgd $1000, so it is great for people like me who could not afford to put much funds for investement purpose. And the interest rate is often much better than fixed deposits, .

And of course, the interest is granted regardless of what happend. (unless the government collasped)

Honestly, I am not aware about treasury bill and I am also not aware if it is happening in my country. You said that you are doing it. Just wondering if you had been successful with it?

I will check it out if this is available in my country and see if I can share more info to you. I will be right back to you, buaya.

Hi petite, treasury security functions like fixed deposit programs in bank, expect that the bank is the government itself. You are gurantee your interest and captial, unless the government collasped or refused to pay out

Is this more or less like the mutual funds?? without risk..

As in mutual funds case, the rate of return is not fixed.. just like ur investing in the share market.. with lesser risk..

If i were you, being a college student, young blood... i can afford to face any market volatility and would invest in higher risk, higher return investment instead...

What's the annual rate of return like?? if you dont mind sharing it with us here..

Treasury security are voliate-free investement. The rate of return are more or less granted because it is backed by the government. Unless the government is overthrown, it is most likely the safest form of bonds.

For my country, it is like about 3% per annunal
