Dear Participants,
I am searching for a stock broker that would provide a margin account for the purpose of selling stocks short. I have been unable to locate one easily in London (I am currently based here). Can anyone of you make a recommendation? Thank you in advance, Yours Sincerely, A |

There is always spread betting, but I guess you want to short the stocks right? I would recommend CDF, which is more in the Derivatives sector. Try out Saxo Bank, they have a good CFD platform, also allows you to margin.

italkcash, thank you for your reply.
Are you aware of any UK-based broker with short selling "facilities" if I wish to short stocks directly and not via CFDs? Yours, A |

Real Estate or Stocks ---- I would prefer real estate just for the sake that I don’t know much about the stocks ….. …. I would advice you to have some investments in the real estate market as the place is at a boom now and you may get good returns for the investments there. Being updated on the stock market is a must for investments there but I find investment a risk in the stock market.

Normin, Thanks for your post.
I have not been investing in real estate; may be now is the time to consider this. Regards |

I don't think you will find many, if any, brokers willing to allow you to go short. Due to risk monitoring and liquidity requirements. There is no reason why you should not use CFDs. This would be the best way.
