safe is it to use PayPal with a bank account

I don't have a credit card but need to order online before I get one. I am signing up for paypal with my bank account. I assume paypal is more than trustworthy and this is entirely safe; however, I'd like to know if anyone says it's a bad idea (and I should just wait until I can get a credit card from my bank they are very slow with this process).

No bad experience here. I've been using my account for over 3 yrs.

I actually don't have a paypal account my self. But some of my friends have. And none of them have had any bad experience with it.
I guess its as safe as it comes.

They even pay taxes to the government. It's a perfectly legal electronic payment system.
