Question Authorizing a transaction in Paypal

I have noticed that Certain services ask you to clear an amount many times of what is due to them. The reason given is that it is to verify the account. Now some of the services i have seen doing this are Bitwine- advisers online, and some other network marketing sites. I still haven't cleared any such payment cause i wasn't too sure. Now what should i do?? Clear these payments and take the risk or do i not clear them??

I haven't tried Bitwine yet, but i've heard of their services, they're good.
If they're overcharging you, you can talk to their customer services. They're sure to have a "Contact Us" located somewhere.

Or you can checkout their support page: Help : BitWine

The payment process
Quote:
You will not be charged at the very beginning of your call. First, you will get a brief free consultation in which you and your Advisor will introduce yourselves and agree on the topic you wish to discuss during your call. Once you both agree to go ahead with the call, then charging can begin. At this time, you will be asked to choose how much BitWine credit you would like to purchase for this call. The credit you authorize is not your payment, it is merely your way of saying, " this is my budget for this call, please warn me when I reach that limit".
So, from what i can see, verification of your paypal is NOT necessary at all. As long as payment is done on time, they should have no right to charge you anything other the due amount.
If they do, it's better to find a way to complain... but first, best you check from their support sites and find out if this verification is necessary. If anything, i think they're not following rules there.

Well its not that they are going to charge. They say that they need me to authorise the payment to verify if that is my account. What i need to know is is it usual for companies to do that. Ask for authorisation of payment that isent due to them so that they can verify your account???

I'm not sure of paypal or other online gateways. But for a DC this is quiet normal.

Quote:
Authorizing a transaction can:
• Help verify that the card is not counterfeit
• Verify that the cardholder has sufficient credit for the purchase
• Place a "hold" on the cardholder’s credit line for the amount of the transaction
This may be extended to a payment gateway as well. Paypal is safe for all kinds of transactions. They have good customer service. It's fine to go ahead with it.

Yes. It's not uncommon. More so on secure sites.
