Default Credit Card fraud

How do you get away from them?
Seems everywhere I go I always get some fraud charges on my cc. I don't use it anywhere except in some stores in big malls. What gives? Anyone here who can offer tips?

That's a bit confusing. Usually credit card frauds occur after they're stolen. The best thing to do is to monitor the bills you get from the malls (demand for a bill if they don't give it) and see that it matches your charges.

Also, keep your cc locked up somewhere. For all you know, it could be your family or friends or acquaintances using the cc number. On internet, all you need is the card number, not the physical thing...

The general tips to keep fraud at bay is:
  • Never give your card number to strangers or telemarketers who call you on the phone. Be wary of a tantalizing offer or prize that requires you to give out your credit card number.
  • Write down the toll free numbers for reporting your credit cards lost or stolen and keep the number at home, in your purse or wallet and at your office so that you will be prepared to call immediately if you have to.
  • Always check that you get your card back after you make a purchase.
  • Keep your cards in a safe place that won't be obvious to burglars.
  • Always sign your card in ink as soon as you receive it.
  • Never lend your card to anyone. If you want to let someone else use your card to buy something, handle the transaction yourself.
  • Shred all credit card receipts and pre-approved credit card offers into tiny pieces before you throw them away. Keep your billing statements in a safe place.
  • When you use your credit card online, make sure you are using a secure Web site. Look for a small key or lock symbol at the bottom right of your browser's window.

And in addition to what id6200 has said, there is also a possibility that your card has been skimmed by someone when you use your card for payment. If you think that you are being fraud, it is best to call up the credit card, cancel the card and get a new one. Depending on the policies, you might or might not have to pay up but then, it is better than to let things go on like this

I suppose you're talking about credit cards steals in the real world (not online). I never got my credit card stolen or lost, I always keep it in my wallet where it's safe.
But using a credit card online is another matter, because you can't find out who used your credit card online!
To avoid all of this, just create a PayPal account which is the best alternative for online shopping with credit cards, and PayPal is accepted in 80% of the online Shopping websites, and eBay is at the top of them.

Yes trying PayPal is a great option for many reasons. First your credit card number is kept private. Second unlike credit cards you can actually set transaction limits for these accounts which is real great.

You can also try other merchant services like money bookers. Google recently launched a service called Checkout. They let you buy from a wide range of stores and eliminate the need for multiple accounts. This service is still in the infancy stage though and will take some time to reach the usual quality and standard of Google products.

yah I think you should cancel your cc cause somebody might have accessed to it... and create a new one.... the nesxt thing is that this time try to be conscious when you are using the credit card.... Cause if you'll do the same things again and again... your cc will be again and again be fraud

Credit cards have their own uses. Many people stick to them as they give "free" points "redeemable" in a variety of ways every time they use the CC... so if you're spending money, might as well spend it through the CC and get something out of it. After all, getting a CC is absolutely free.

We just have to be careful while using them...

BTW, there's this interesting way to place fraud charges on your CC. A virus/bug/hack can be installed into the machine that reads your card number in Malls, and other places.
Remember that the people who flash your bills needn't necessarily be part of the Mall, but can be merely part-timers who are not trusted employees of the real owners. They can install certain bugs into the machine and capture your card-number. This works on the same principle as anti-social hacks installed in ATMs to capture your PIN numbers.

This could explain continuous fraud charges on your CC as well.

lancealmekian,
do you use your credit card also for shopping online? If yes, then you should provide your computer with full security before connecting the internet. Install on your PC the most reliable anti-virus and spyware programs as well firewall.
Besides, if your account is still being used by fraudsters then you should not to delay with closing that credit card account. Later you may get another.

Protecting your credit card is very tough anymore as many peering eyes around. Follow your credit card statements closely and make sure you report all wrong transactions to the credit card company.
