International debit cards are very useful, convenient, and best to carry when you travel abroad compared to bringing an atm card because it's more convenient. You can withdraw money and make a purchase with debit cards which you cannot do with ATMs. When my brother was overseas he had a difficult time looking for an atm machine that accepts his card and we ended up sending him money instead.

Carrying international debit cards while traveling overseas provides consumers with protection in that carrying around a significant amount of cash could put that person at risk for theft or worse. Then, since these cards can only work with the set PIN, security is even better. Additionally, if a card were to be lost or stolen, the cardholder would contact the issuing company, which would immediately, any further purchases/payments would be locked out.
