A good way to avoid all of the problems mentioned above would be to limit yourself to very few cards, and do everything in your power to try and live free of credit/debit cards.

Not just your mail, but anything with name, address, and personal info on it. I shred everything with that kind of information on it.

Also, the good places like Lifelock are pretty upfront that much of what they offer, like alerts and such, can be done yourself. They usually even tell you how to do it. It's a time and convenience thing for many people.

But you have to be realistic -- how many of us can really do that? I think we'd all like to be there, but reality stinks sometimes!

This sounds like a good program and it obviously works. It's unfortunate that it's so expensive though.

Lifelock is so sure that they will protect you against any identity theft that the CEO of the company, Todd Davis, has publicly posted his own social security on Lifelock's site challenging anyone to steal it. No one has ever been able to penetrate the system and actually steal his identity to this date. Lifelock is a guarantee against any sort of identity theft and it will protect your social security, credit and good name.

Regards
