That's true that a lot of people never check for the signature. However, I thought that these photos were on the front which would be more clearly seen and thus more helpful. Am I wrong?

None of mine do, but my mother had one on hers. I think it was Bank of America, and I'm going back to 2000 or earlier when that happened.

The one my mother had was on the front. I used to use her credit card sometimes, so that kinda put a crimp in our style. lol

They do where I go, unless they know you. However, legally, you are not required to present a driver's license. There is much more info they can get off of that than just your credit card. They have your card, and that's all they need. This was on the news here just a couple of weeks ago.

I thought that it'd be on the front which definitely would be helpful.

Orrymain: Thanks for the info, I thought they were legally allowed to see your driver's license for photo ID

A photo on the front wouldn't be terrible, I suppose. But, as noted earlier, 9 times out of 10 nowadays, I swipe my own card and the cashier never sees it. And it wouldn't help against online purchases.

You know AgntFred I'd never thought about it that way but you're right: It probably wouldn't do any good.

Well its a nice idea to have a photo on the credit card, If used manually, it can avoid to some extent the misuse of the credit cards. Credit card companies must think over this option seriously as it would certainly help them in reducing the credit card frauds.

Thumbs up

For me this seems a pretty cool, could probably pass for a valid ID for the owner if this is implemented. It will surely add up to the cardholder’s protection from fraud, and in case of loss, only the owner has the authority to claim the card back. I hope visa or mastercard implements this… this would surely be one level up with credit cards.

I have to say that I don't like that self swiping routine. I much prefer having the cashier use their machine. Anyone can steal a card and use it without any problems.
I fully agree with you on this, the self swiping system has actually increased the illegal use of credit cards. Its better that the responsibility should only be with the cashier or store personal to handle this.

Now keeping to the topic, I heard somewhere that Bank of America is issuing a personalized credit card with the users photo on it as an additional security measure for no extra charges.
