The problem is that some vcc number may not be from a legit source. They may be stolen numbers sold by dishonest sellers

Yeah thats true, do you guys know why paypal disallowed the usage of vcc in their account? Its simple, lets think of this way. Lets say you're making a deal with someone, you're buying things worth of $1000+, and then you are confident that he won't break the deal cause he's a verified user of paypal. But actually, it turns out to be that the person you're dealing with is a 12 year old rascal, or a hacker, he just used VCC to verified himself, you're the one who's losing here. Paypal want the safety of their users, thats why they disallowed using vcc....

Just be careful with your personal details. It would be ok if only your credit card was stolen. A lot of hackers may even try using your details and use it for other illegal purposes . Identity theft is one of the highest crimes over the web so keep your details secured. Be a skeptic and always keep your stuff safe.

Thanks for the tip!

But few tips for the merchants or store owners, when receiving and charging credit card purchases, always check the VISA and Mastercard hologram. Also, check the numbers on the back of the cards, they should be in reverse italics, and print starts in the middle of the strip card.

Thumbs up credit card

This card has two type of security numbers. One is written after the 16 digits and another is provided with cover paper ,This number like a password. Some website wants the first security number to account verification. If you provide it to them then you would be in big danger.

Well that depends on the website you are offering the information too.
If it is using a famous processor like paypal or so then its no problem.
Check to see the creditabilty of that website.
Still I use an Internet Card for that, a card that only works online for me, and i fund it whenever i want to buy anything.

Yep. Just check if the site is secure (it will have taht padlock symbol or site address: https://...where s stands for SSL (Secure Sockett Layer) ).

Also,I would suggest taht you review your credit card statement every month and make sure all purchases and transactions are accounted for. You can also get a free credit report to see which are the companies that have had access to your CC details.

But a better option is to use a service such as Paypal. Your credit card details with Paypal is 100% secure. Better let Paypal deal with the merchants online.

i don't think they are that dumb to steal your money from your credit card ! even if they do, you can go to the bank which you apply your CC, and they will give you the details about all transactions made ! and if you find a that they stole your money, you can open a claim ! but i advice you to NOT buy stuff from shopping websites which aren't popular, because almost of them are infected with a XSS vulnerability allows hackers to get the database of the website, and it content the credit cards informations of all buyers, then you will lose your money very easly ! beware
