I used an autosurf program, and it helped to boost my site's pageviews. However, I had noticed that my computer had considerably slowed down. I took it to the shop, and the repairman said it was packed with spyware - probably from the autosurf. You see, the program has no control of what kinds of sites people submit and what those sites do to visitor's computers.

Yeah, stay away from these programs, the risks including computer infection and decreased performance highly outweigh the benefits.

Using Firefox can really cut down on your spyware risks. There are add-ons that will filter the undesireable codes.
You can also use Yahoo's Anti-Spy to remove them. No need to take your computer in for repair. |

I use Firefox and Internet Explorer alternatively. Some sites won't perform very well with IE, so I switch to Firefox.
Is Yahoo's Anti-Spy free? |

I use AdAware, a free program for virus protection, and have yet to have any major virus issues.

Well, I use Norton for virus and spyware protection, it is generally good, but I guess it can miss certain things.
