Even i'm join early than you. I always lazy to run that peer gomez software/bar in my PC. SOmetimes i just forget about this one. When i format my PC, i also forget to install it back. Gomez doesn't require you to surf, just open it quietly. You never see anything, as titan has said, he didn't realize it working. While it's running, there's only a small icon on task bar, just like a normal program.
