Default ShutterStock - submit.shutterstock.com

We want your photos! Submit your photos to Shutterstock and get paid every time one of your photos is downloaded. Web designers, magazine editors, and other graphic artists purchase monthly subscriptions to Shutterstock to download photos from our site.

Shutterstock is different than other stock models. Buyers subscribe on a monthly basis and can download up to 750 images over the course of 30 days. Your cut? Shutterstock will pay you 25 cents every time one of your images is downloaded. Once you reach $500 in earnings, your commission goes up to 30 cents per download. Our subscription model encourages buyers to download a greater volume of images than they would at most other agencies.

Hey, this sounds very interesting! I make a lot of photos, and I have actually thought of making them available for sale online. Do I understand it correctly that your service (uploading, etc.) is free for the photographer?

I agree it sounds interesting, but that's a high pay out. Gotta have a lot of downloads to reach $75.

Wow - this is something I have never seen before! I am going to have to pass this one on to some designer friends.

I agree that $75 is rather steep... I guess if you've got thousands of photos and a lot of downloads, you can succeed, but it will probably take a while to get there.

I somehow missed that part before, you are totally right - $75 seems to be pretty far off if you have a site with only moderate traffic.

I do not have that many photographs so that would be very hard for me to make any mony at it. I am sure though a photographer could do well their.

I wish someone who has actually tried it and made some money would post here... Hearing first-hand into on how hard it is, how long it takes would be really helpful.

I agree, maybe they should put a Payment Proof section on here!
