Two significant problems emerged this week as me2everyone created a wave of excitement across the planet!
1. Passwords that don't work
2. Members who somehow get connected to the wrong introducer
Both these errors are affecting 3% of members: giving us 750 frustrated people. We are still working on a solution and it may have something to do with the security settings in a browser. Some ISPs are blocking us, but it still doesn't solve the issue. We are going to handle this in a few ways:
1. First we need to move to the new servers: we need the site back up to normal cruising speed, so that members don't get put off with the slow connection. We aim to have this done today.
2. We are changing the forgotten password link to first check whether an email address is registered in the system and if not, give the user a chance to re-register. If the email is found, the system will check to see if it's locked. This could be for a number of reasons, including duplicated account, incomplete registration or account under investigation. The user will be told the status. If the account is unlocked then an email will be sent within milli-seconds. If its never received, the user will know that its because their ISP is probably blocking the website - instructions will be given on how to do this.
As a side issue we will soon be adding SSL 128 to the registration and log-in process.
