For girls, you should carry your handbag on your side which is harder for cyclers or bikers to snatch, in other words, carry your handbag at the side nearer to the building instead of facing the road. For men, I prefer to carry my wallet in my side pocket and keep my hands in my pocket. Its risky to put your wallet in your back pocket, especially when you're standing in a bus.
