I'm Chinese by both nationality and origin, right now in China, recently the exchange rate between US Dollar and Chinese RMB are getting lower and lower, overseas Chinese are saying they earn much less than before... Gold is steady after all case I think, I do agree with you, still a good idea to invest gold...
